Description: The wild beauty of America's Last Frontier awaits at the Valdez KOA. Eighteen acres of wilderness surround the campground, where you can easily access hiking and ATV trails. Beyond, glacier-caked peaks dominate the view in all directions. A pristine stream flows right through the campground, churning with salmon in season. Bald eagles soar by, and the occasional bear wanders through. With a camp store, Wi-Fi and other on-site services, you can settle right in and get ready to explore this magnificent region. Charter a local guide to fish world-class waters for salmon and halibut. Board a wildlife excursion boat to scan the Sound for humpback whales, fuzzy sea otters, comical-looking puffins and other birds not often seen in the Lower 48. Come face-to-face with one of the largest tidewater glaciers in North America, an ice sheet as high as a football field and another big Alaska memory. Open May 1 (weather permitting). Max pull thru: 75 feet. Your hosts: Tim & LaVerne Eickman.
